Advanced/ Travel Wrestling is for intermediate to advanced wrestlers ages 6 to 16 years old.  This is a competitive environment with practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Practices are usually 1.5 to 2 hours long, full of intermediate and advanced skills.  There will be level appropriate matches on Saturdays or Sundays from December through early March.  This team participates in the Anne Arundel County Travel Wrestling League.  Half of the events are team events (dual meets or dual meet tournaments) and half the events are individual tournaments.  Traveling out of state is optional and very rare, if any options are out of state they are to PA, DE, VA.  Meets/ tournaments are optional.  If you are interested in wrestling on a HS wrestling team, this is where you should be the earlier the better.

  • 6 to 16 years old
  • Is meant for wrestlers who are serious about wrestling, who enjoys competing, and want to get better. A spot on the advanced team is not guaranteed through registration.   This team requires an evaluation process during the first few weeks of practice.  If your child is not yet ready for the advanced team, coaches will speak with the parent and wrestler.  If a child needs to move down to the Rec League, we will make a spot for the wrestler.

  • Practice 3 nights a week. Practices are Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays at Long Reach HS Wrestling Room
  • Practices are usually an hour and a half to 2 hours between 6:15pm-8:00pm – Arrive at 6:15pm practice starts at 6:30pm
  • Half the events are team events (dual meets or dual meet tournaments) and half the events are individual tournaments. 
  • Traveling out of state is optional and very rare, if any options are out of state they are to PA, DE, VA
  • Meets/ tournaments are optional and held on Saturdays or Sundays
  • Season Runs from November 1-March 11
  • First Practice is Wednesday, November 1
  • Parent Night is Monday, November 6 at 6:30pm in a room separate from practice wrestling room
  • All parents will sign up to our Team Snap website which will include a calendar with a detailed schedule of all practice/matches/tournaments and information

Weekly Practice Information:

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30pm-8pm at Long Reach HS.  All wrestlers should arrive at 6:15pm.  

Weekend Matches / Tournaments: 

First Practice Friday, November 1 at 6:30pm; arrive at 6:15pm. 

The Advanced Team participates in the AAWL (Anne Arundel County Wrestling League).  Matches are mainly on Sundays in December, January and February.  All other weekend tournaments before, during, and after the AAWL season will be detailed on our Team Snap calendar.  The coaches approve tournaments that are good for our kids to go and register individually or as a team.
