With hundreds of leagues being conducted by HCRP and local community groups, HCRP has seen many players and adults at all levels who emphasize positive sportsmanship.

To honor these individuals, HCRP sponsors a county wide GoodSports award for one youth player, one youth coach and one adult player. These awards are presented at the annual Howard County Celebration of Sports banquet in the Fall.

GoodSports is a MARPSA program that goes beyond sportsmanship encouraging local athletes and coaches to take responsibility for their actions and behaviors on and off the field to assure the best sporting experience for all."

Nominations are accepted on an annual basis. Basic criteria is that the individual must be participating / coaching in a Howard County recreational, non-scholastic program.

Sportsmanship focuses on respect, positive leadership, team ethics and dedication. It's about keeping perspective and having fun regardless of the score.

The quality and presentation of the submission is very important! Include with the nomination form a paragraph of 100 words or less with additional information describing why the nominee should be selected for this award. Please make sure your nominee meets all the criteria and requirements (Remember, this is for recreational sports, not scholastic competitors/coaches).
